Parental Voluntary Help

Voluntary help is always appreciated in school as it helps activities to take place that might not otherwise be possible.  If you would like to help in school, please contact the office or your child’s teacher.  The school follows the recommended procedures with regard to non-qualified voluntary helpers working with children.  All volunteers need to undergo CRB (Criminal Reports Bureau) checks through Somerset County Council.  Please see the secretary for forms and more information.

Where parents help in school on a regular basis or for a specific task, this help can take many forms.   For example:

  • Helping us in groups during Numeracy and Literacy
  • Reading to individuals or groups of children
  • Listening to children read
  • Cooking with children
  • Accompanying children on outings and walks
  • Coming to school to share details of jobs and occupations
  • Working in the library
  • Helping with dinner arrangements
  • Helping with swimming lessons
  • Transporting children to and from sporting events, etc
  • Helping with a club

In 2003 we achieved the Schools Community Award for our innovative and imaginative work with parents and their involvement in the life of the school.
